Over the past decades there has been a Cambrian explosion of software tools. As a result we’re using a bunch of different tools to help us with every aspect of the product development lifecylce.
From ideation to planning, to documentation, coding, reviews, deployment, monitoring, analytics and maintenance.
And while each tool is great at what it does, they are in their own silos and weren’t built to work together. These silos lead to disconnected workflows, context switching, and difficulty finding information.
It forces us to jump between different tools and sift through notifications that come at us from different directions. All this is a drag on our work, focus and happiness. And we mostly just take it for granted.
